'Beachboy' radios
'Beachboy' radios
Anyone know for sure who marketed those 'Beachboy' radios that came in several colors, and when? Even though they have ICs in them, there are also a couple of discrete transistors on the circuit board. Was it Radio Shack in the '90s?

Re: 'Beachboy' radios
I keep seeing them as new on ebay and have all suspicion that they might still be making them. I have a PHILCO one tucked away in a box for posterity

Re: 'Beachboy' radios
I googled Polyconcepts of Stamford and so I gather they are a distributor of sorts? In the case of the Beachboy radios, I suppose they would have been sold by any just about any retailer, used as promo items, etc. etc. I now have them in six different colors and have long been curious about them.

Re: 'Beachboy' radios
While they aren't anything expensive or rare, I will pick them up if I see them cheap. (Under $5 in the box) I have the chartreuse color, in the box. It might be fun to try and collect all the colors. They do look pretty cool for a new radio.
I also suspect that eventually, there will be collectors for the Thomas and other 'repro' radios out there in the future.
