Aetna 605 has me stumped!
I’ve been working on this Aetna cube for quite some time and it has me thoroughly stumped. The small, blurry schematic that seems to be the only one in existence is less than useless. Here is the chassis:
Can someone ID the circled coil for me?

Also, can someone tell me where this detached lead is supposed to be connected?

I believe that may be the root of my problem. My friend John has been helping me with it and he’s stumped too. Next week I will post a video showing what the radio is actually doing and not doing because that will be clearer than me trying to describe it.

Re: Aetna 605 has me stumped!
It would be nice to post a schematic but the coil in question looks to be an antenna coil. Any leads from the rear antenna hook up going to it?
The loose wire, schematic would help, also look as to where it might reach to another connection.
Post a schematic Please.

Re: Aetna 605 has me stumped!
The reason I didn’t post the schematic is because it is so small and low quality as to be virtually useless. Here it is:

Here is the link to the original on Nostalgia Air:

The model I have is actually the 653 not the 605 but the chassis is the same.

It could be a gimmick to reduce stray oscillations.

I think you might be right. I haven't been able to get back to it yet. Lots of things, not the least of which was dropping 2 grand over 2 months on repairing my wife's car, got in the way. I have several unfinished radios and test gear I need to finish and clear off my bench first. I'll post when I get back on it.
