Mysterious Air King
Mysterious Air King
I live in Brazil and have this Air King radio aproximately since 1988. I believed it was a 66 model. But there are main diferences in the circuit and at the front of the cabinet.
My radio has
1. a power transformer and the tubes are 6SA7; 6K7; 6SQ7; 6F6; 5W4
2. knobs that have same color of the cabinet
3. dial that looks like a rosette
4. an ID plate placed in the middle of the back of chassis but does not mention model
5. IF’s transformers with a logo named “Douglas” either a brazilian or argentinian company
I conclude that there are three possibilities for my radio: 1) assembled here in Brazil by a company that designed a differente circut, using north-american cabinet. 2) a radio modified by some technical radio over time. 3) An Air King for export, because the ID plate arrangement in the middle of the rear of the chassis, is the same as the model 770 considered for export.
Who can put some ligths on this shadow?

Re: Mysterious Air King
May we see some pictures of this radio, including the top of chassis, under the chassis, inside of cabinet, and, front of set?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Mysterious Air King
I was able to post the photos of this mysterious Air King Skyscraper. On the IF shield it is possible to view the name of its manufacturer, "Douglas" and the word "selo vermelho" which means red label. Douglas was a Brazilian manufacturer of components and radios until the mid-1980s.

Interesting set with an interesting set of tubes. Looks like early 40's.
