What type resistors are these
What type resistors are these
Would the long cylindrical resistors (some with a red dot) be considered wire wound resistors?

Hi Mike.
Yes those are wire wound resistors. You can tell the value of them by using the system B E D which is Body, End, Dot
You start with the chart telling you what each color means.
https://www.google.ca/search?q=resistor+color+chart&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiR5MXY2_PVAhXmhFQKHYfsDu0QsAQIJQ&biw=1056&bih=481.
I did find it a little complicated at first, but it is not really that hard.
In your photo you have one that has a yellow body and that is 4.
The end is black and that is 0. the dot is red which is 2[meaning two zeros].
it would be 4000 ohms.
I hope this helps you Dan in Calgary

Those are what are commonly referred to as "dogbone" resistors and those hardly ever go bad, the resistors you will want to worry about are the carbon comp resistors (brown with several different color stripes that correspond to the modern resistor color coding system) or any resistors that look burned.

Dog Bone resistors drift high, make sure to test all of them.

Some dogbones are still working, but, usually, I find them either one hundred percent high, or, just wide open.
