A Lot Of Waking Up To Do

I got to see something similar over the weekend. I bought a incubator to see if I could hatch some chics since most of my chickens are older. I had some to hatch but I noticed many could not get out of the eggs. I had some to die in the shell before I realized it. So I had some that couldn't get out on their own. I took them out of the incubator, gently peeled the egg shell off and placed them back in the incubator for a few hours. I was able to save a couple that way. I have a few left to go but I think the eggs are bad or the chicks died before they even tried to get out. Luckily I was able to get 5 so far. I am happy with that many as this was the first go around.

I wish you luck, that is one aspect of the country life I don't know too much about.

Growing up we had chickens. We never did use a incubator,we ordered them. As for the incubator I have enjoyed it. I put in about 17 eggs. I still have 9 in there. I lost 3 but got 5. I don't expect to get any more but you never know. If I don't have any more by tomorrow I will dispose of the eggs. I think I will start an new batch this weekend. Its a learning experience. So the next time I see things I need to do different to help them. But considering I don't have much in them I am happy with the outcome. Mainly the time and electricity for the incubator which is not much.
