Gasoline Prices Going Down
What are your gas prices like?
I paid $2.47 per gallon this week-end.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
The lowest here I have seen/paid is $2.53. Last year, on Thanksgiving Day, I paid $3.29 at the QuikTrip up the street. 76 cents a gallon less makes a big difference when you have a 42 gallon gas tank. Last year, a half tank would cost almost $100. This year, you have to be almost on fumes to put $100 worth in.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
Somehow they are keeping prices jacked up here in the metro Norfolk area, lowest I've seen is $2.69, got gas for that over three weeks ago up at Smithfield...
With 10 cent off on Wed along with another 10 cent Kroger discount, I was able to get gas last week for $2.55 at the corner Shell...

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
Apparently the slosh module behind my instrument cluster is bad which makes my gas gauge wander all over. My mechanic said that sometimes it's right. Right.
That means I have to fill up every time, check the odometer and the gallons to figure out my mileage. Then I reset the odometer again. I average around 16 mpg, which for a 22 year old vehicle isn't bad, (it got 18 when it was new) and my tank is around 16 gallons. That makes it pretty simple- 16x16=256. But that could change, thus the odometer/miles/gallons thing.
I can't fill up until Wednesday. I sure hope it doesn't go back to $3.99 by then.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
I think we will see $2 gas before it is all over.
Dad used to use a stick in his pickup truck. It had the gas tank behind the seat and he had a broom handle he used for a gas gauge. It was a '47 Chevrolet.

My dad had a '47 Studebaker. He had an aftermarket yardstick that came from the hardware store. He also made up interior panels for the doors out of linoleum. He brush painted it with paint he got from the army surplus store. Yellow with the chrome areas in white. Mmm mm.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
Dad's '47 Chevrolet was red with black fenders. I think it was factory painted like that. It had those little windows in the cab corners. We used to ride to town on the front fenders holding onto the turn signals, going about 10 mph. Dad would be up on child abuse charges if he allowed that today.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
It was not uncommon to put $100 worth of gas in the 42 gallon tank on our Tahoe. Now it has to be fairly empty to put $50 worth in. That is a huge difference if you get to thinking about it. Gas prices have fallen almost a dollar a gallon since the first of October around here. On Christmas Day, last year, I put gas in my Buick for $3.49. This year, I predict $2.19 around here this year on Christmas day. They are predicting under $2 here by the first of the year. This I gotta see.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
According to Gas Buddy it's $2.18 over on the West side of town, but @ approx 15 mi, my old truck prob use two gallons getting over there and back... The 7-11 at Portlock & Bainbridge is only about 2.5 miles away, looks like the best place near by... The Sky Mart is just half mile up the road but have to pay cash to get the best price... And of course "my corner" 7-11 has the highest prices in town @ 2.63... The Shell across street is at $2.59...

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
Wife & I went out cursing in the country, found gas for $2.15.9 at a Sunoco in Wakefield Va, home of Virginia Diner(Yes we ate dinner from their buffet)...

One station had it for three cents less but was apparently out of gas as the pumps all had not in service on them...

The Channel 15 news sweetie just reported that gas at 20th Street and Osborne in Phoenix is $1.99 a gallon. There were cars lined up as far as the eye could see.

Re: Gasoline Prices Going Down
According to what I have read, the long term forecast is for gas prices to stay relatively low for a time. I guess we'll see. We can't do anything about it in any case.

My corner Shell & 7-11 are still some of the highest in town at $2.35.9... At least the BP across the street has fallen to $2.29.9...
