This schematic assumes a 9V battery, but it can be operated on a wallwart or other AC P/S as well(have schematics for other versions)... When antenna is properly tuned it only draws 11ma and assuming there is no 1000 or 1230 local, has at least 100ft of crystal clear range on a 10ft antenna...

There is a screw-up on this schematic, pin#3 on the LM386N should be grounded...

Here's a LM386N version complete with P/S... Schematic is almost correct,
add the 470pf to ground on pin #2...
Use parts info from first schematic if you need 1.228Kc...
