GE pocket radio model P-820A
GE pocket radio model P-820A
Here is a transistor radio I got for free and it works great!

The case could use a little work. Does anyone know if it's possible to rechrome the ridge around the dial?

When clicking on the schematic, it didn't display the entire diagram. Did you also get a case with it?

Yes I did, it's tan. I thought that was odd with a black and white radio.
I can never get anything from radiomuseum.com, I've tried to join but it's very confusing.

I used to touch up silver-colored bezels on cars by "shaving" a Q-tip and spreading silver paint on the edge of the bezel. Testors makes model car paint in little glass jars that works well for this. The trick is to get the fuzz short enough on the Q-tip so that it will not smear the paint, yet long enough to hold paint. A tiny artist's brush and a steady hand will do the same job. My hands are not steady enough anymore to use the artist's brush method. Others may have different suggestions and your results may vary.

Your getting some lucky great finds. Might want to consider some powerball tickets?
I've heard that from others, and based on their complaints I don't think it is worth my time.

If you check at a hobby shop or office supply store, they make silver paint markers that I've used to touch up Ford dashboard trim that was silver over black plastic.

I thought of paint and wonder if masking tape might help unsteady hands?

I might try an old rubber stamp pad and load it with siver paint, that should get it on straight and even.

I'll let you know how it works out, just as soon as I work up the nerve!

I couldn't get the link to open, but I believe this radio is from 1961.
What I did on my dashboard would work in addition to the other comments about restoring the "chrome" dial outline.
Tape off everything but the very top edge and spray a couple light mist coats of Rustoleum brand "bright coat" line in the "chrome" color.
It is susceptible to rubbing damage, but will look very nice.

I would suggest using silver rubbing. Its a very soft wax with silver gound in. Its used for guilding picture frames.
