Anko Model 360 Tube tester Any information?
Anko Model 360 Tube tester Any information?
I am just getting into tube testing and tube amplifiers. I bought an Anko Model 360 tube tester on Ebay, and it appears to be broken. When you set the A,B,and C switches and insert a tube (or don't insert a tube) the unit shows 80 on Gas - 80 on Shorts - and pegs below zero on Test. Not sure where to start on the repair. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. the meter sits below zero and the adjustment screw seems to have no effect on it.

Hi. As a start, I'd replacee that dual electrolytic. Polarity is important. So is voltage.
That's a starting point.

Thanks Bill. I have a friend looking into the part. Do you have any suggestions? Also not sure of the polarity line up on the existing cap. Thanks!

That red top is the positive end. there are two electrolytics in one case.
The negative is on the Metal part.

So both positives on the top and the negative below. I would replace it with two different caps.

I would do what Bill said if it was mine. As far as the tube if you are concerned I would see if you could get it checked locally or order one new and tested from somewhere like antique electronic supply. As far as a diagram goes check with A. G. Tannenbaum at http://www.paontheweb.com/redirect/?id=3888
He has been supplying diagrams for well over 20 years. I got some about 20 years ago that no one had but him.

That's the plan - replace the 20 mfd caps, and the diode - test the tube. Thanks for your suggestions.
