From reading the link and reading other posts from "RIF" I'm sure it is supposed to be informational!

It's a rhetorical question to introduce and broach the subject of Dip Meters and encourage discussion. Not a lot of people are familiar with older technology so this gives them information that might interest them. Yes that is what it is, both a question and a statement.

The Socratic method of questioning student responses may be used by a teacher to lead the student towards the truth without direct instruction, and also helps students to form logical conclusions.

The post in question is obviously self evident if you care to read the link supplied....for information and instruction on the use of dip meters.

I am supprized that none of the older peaple here know wat a dip meter is? for your info it was called a grid dip meter back in vacume tube years but when the transister came along the name was shortend to dip meter! as for what it dose is another mater. May your antannas always stay high!

I'm familiar with the "grid dip meters," and there were instructions on building them in the older Radio Amateur Handbooks. I had an old Millen at one time but gave it away due to a move.

Well, I would like to learn what a dip meter is. Unfortunately I see no link. I guess I will remain clueless on what you dip the dang thing into.
